A straight answer about cost
Most agencies will not discuss price until they have been to your home. We think you deserve a number on the first call.

Paying for care
There is often more help available than families realize, particularly for veterans.

- Long-term care insurance
- We verify your policy and handle the claim paperwork with your carrier.
- VA Aid and Attendance
- A pension benefit that can help pay for care at home for eligible veterans and surviving spouses. The amount depends on your income and net worth, and the VA publishes the current figures at va.gov. Most families have never heard of it. We will point you to the Tarrant County Veterans Service Office, who help you apply free of charge. Never pay anyone to file a VA claim for you.

Questions families ask
Does Medicaid pay for this, and who decides how many hours I get?
Texas Medicaid pays through your health plan. For STAR+PLUS members, the health plan assesses your needs in a face-to-face visit and authorizes the services and hours. Call us and we will explain the steps and confirm whether we work with your plan.
Who qualifies for Medicaid home care?
It depends on the program. For the STAR+PLUS home and community based program, Texas HHS requires that you are 21 or older, have full Medicaid, have a medical necessity determination for nursing facility level of care, live in Texas and are a U.S. citizen, with an unmet need for at least one service. Other Medicaid personal attendant services use a separate assessment by your health plan. Rules change, so confirm with your health plan, call 2-1-1 or ask us.
Can a family member be my paid caregiver?
Many of our caregivers are family members of the client. Whether a particular relative can be hired depends on the program and your health plan, so call us before you assume. Read more on our family caregiver page.
What is the difference between the agency option and consumer directed services?
With the agency option, an agency such as Monarch employs and supervises the caregiver. With consumer directed services, you act as the employer and a financial management agency handles payroll. Monarch provides the agency option.
What do your caregivers do, and not do?
They help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, walking and transfers, meals, light housekeeping, errands and medication reminders. We provide non-medical care. Caregivers do not give injections, dose or change medications, change wound dressings, insert or change catheters, or do tube feedings.
Is the assessment really free?
Yes. The in-home assessment and the written plan cost nothing, and there is no obligation.
Who answers the phone?
The administrator or an alternate. We call back the same business day.
